Three Tips for a Glamorous Holiday Look

dress-in-a-larger-sizeCelebrate!  It’s the holiday season.  A time for office parties and New Year’s celebrations.

What’s that you say?  You don’t feel like dressing up, because you’ve put on a few pounds this year?  Nonsense!  Read this post to find out why.

Plus size women sometimes make the mistake of wearing drab outfits for a night on the town.  They erroneously think a clothing item that is too colorful or too sparkly will make them appear larger than their true size.  Or, they may feel they don’t DESERVE to look nice because they gained weight over the past few years.

How sad…and completely false.  Every woman – no matter her size or shape – deserves to wear spectacular evening wear and accessories.  We are all beautiful in our own way, so instead of trying to blend into the walls, opt for a little pizazz.  These items won’t make you look larger, you will look like you’re ready to have loads of fun.

Here are three ideas to get you started:

First, don’t shy away from fabulous color.  This time of year, one can feel comfortable wearing ruby red, kelly green, and even gleaming golds.  Why not invest in a fit and flare sweater dress in one of these vibrant colors?

The fit and flare style accents any shape perfectly, and the sweater material feels luxurious next to the skin. Add up to the minute heels and a statement necklace to finish this hot look.

Next, don’t shy away from trendy pieces.  Of course belly shirts are out, but another trendy item, leggings, look simply adorable on any size woman.  The key is to wear a tunic that covers the derriere.

For a special evening out, opt for leggings with embellishments down the sides of each leg.  I especially like black leggings that have been adorned with black sequins.  They look flirty (and ready for action) without being trashy.

Finally, remember to add sparkle in the form of necklaces, earrings, rings, hair accessories, and bracelets.  For instance, there’s a reason statement necklaces are in; they attract the right kind of attention.

Larger women don’t need to wear only fine chair necklaces because of their small size. That’s because big, bold necklaces look just as awesome on big, bold gals as they do on women who are petite in stature.

I hope I’ve convinced you to let yourself stand out in a crowd during this year’s holiday gatherings.  It’s much better to wear bold colors, trendy pieces, and stand out jewelry than to dress in plain Jane attire.  You shine on the inside, so let your outside appearance reflect that fact!  You deserve to feel good at all of this season’s fun gatherings.
