Spring is just around the corner – thank goodness! Winter conditions, including snow, ice, and frigid temperatures have kept millions of American women home for too many months in a row. It’s a relief to know that in only a few short weeks, local festivals, graduation parties, fund raisers, and other fun events will resuscitate social calendars.
A good number of these affairs are typically held in the evening, so a woman’s “going out” attire will need to be a little dressier. Check out the four eye catching evening looks I’ve described below. They accentuate a plus sized woman’s body perfectly, while skillfully transitioning to the season of renewal – spring.
1. Shirt Dress
One hot trend for spring 2015 is the shirt dress. This amazing style looks gorgeous on a heavier frame, as the tie belt helps to create a balanced look. In essence, this dress doesn’t portray a top heavy or a bottom heavy silhouette. It gives the illusion of a perfectly proportioned frame.

2. Maxi Skirt and Leather Jacket
Another hot trend – pairing a maxi skirt with a black leather jacket – is both feminine and edgy. Add a crisp white T-shirt, an over-sized handbag, strappy black sandals, and you’ll be set for a dinner date with someone special or for drinks with friends. View this exciting spring look here.
3. Color Block Dress
I’ve touted the versatility of today’s color block dresses before, and this spring’s dazzling versions demand another shout out. Choose a solid color sleeveless sheath with white insets going down the sides, traveling vertically from under the arm to the hem of the dress. The fabric inserts on both sides creates an illusion of an elongated frame. (Who doesn’t want to look taller and thinner?)
Color block dresses should be accessorized with equally dramatic pieces, including an up to the minute clutch, chunky bracelets, and pointy toed heels in a bold color. Since it’s still a bit chilly at night, consider bringing along a cropped cardigan sweater.
4. Wide Leg Trousers
Wide leg pants also flatter a full figure, so take advantage of them this spring. Pair black wide leg trousers in a flowy fabric with a sleeveless top in a bright color. Bubble or peplum hems give the outfit a trendy feel, while at the same time adding a sense of definition to the waist. Add a fantastic cross body bag and eye catching earrings, and you will be sure to impress.
Any of the four outfits described above would be great to wear to a special event this spring. Visit your favorite store today, and try each example on for size. Think about which one makes you feel beautiful. Basically, which ensemble makes YOU happy. If you feel good in the outfit you choose, I guarantee you will be eye catching.
