Fall is always a time of renewal and change, and this fall is no different. But what can you do when you’re on a budget and you can’t go out and redo your entire fall wardrobe? Accessories to the rescue. And this fall, there are a wide variety of looks that are so different that you’ll feel like you revamped everything.
You’ve probably seen all of the various printed leggings that are popular now, but fall doesn’t always need leggings. Sometimes you just need a cute pair of tights to keep you a little warmer when you’re wearing a skirt. And with some of the tights that are out now, you can show them off and make them the statement piece of your outfit. Whether you go for a cat clawing up the back of your leg or some other conversation-starting design, you can’t go wrong with tights this fall.
One accessory that has made the rounds of this fall’s fashion week runways is something called the turtleneck choker. Basically it’s the neck of a turtleneck, chopped. It’s brilliant, because it gives you the look of both a turtleneck and a choker, but without all the bulk of a turtleneck. Give it a try for yourself, and you’ll be amazed at what a great look this can be. It’s especially helpful if the office is a little on the cooler side, but you don’t want to bulk up too much with a jacket or sweater. Sometimes that little bit of fabric around the neck does the trick.
You’re probably too young to remember leg warmers in their first incarnation, but boy, were they snazzy. And they’re back. You can go full force with the same gaudy, fantastic full-on leg warmers of the ’80s, or you can go with the tamer versions that look like your favorite chunky Aran sweater. A variation? The boot cuff, which is often just a few inches in length and is designed for you to wear just at and below your knee, at the right height to peek out of your knee-length boots. Warm and classy.
They’re not just for princesses anymore. Along with turtleneck chokers, another trend on the fashion week runways were longer gloves. Face it, you can put an elbow-length glove with anything and it looks far more elegant. You can stick with fingerless versions that you can wear all day or invest in a pair of leather gloves that will keep you warm all winter long.
With these fall accessories, you can revive your wardrobe without having to spend a fortune. It’ll look like you’ve gone out and gotten all new outfits!
