woman vintage dress (400x400)There is nothing I love more than dressing up in a nice vintage dress for an evening cocktail party or garden party, but I don’t always have the time to dig through thrift shops to find the perfect combination of vintage, adorable, inexpensive and the right size. That is pretty much why I am addicted to ModCloth. I can order newly made dresses with a vintage feel, and many of them are within my budget. And if they don’t fit, I just send them back. Here are five of my favorite finds:

Bryant Park Brilliance Dress in Ivory – I am in love with this dress that manages to capture a late 1960s early 70s feel with a modern silhouette. This dress will flatter many figures and manages to be revealing while still being discreet and appropriate for most situations. The best thing is that this dress is easy to care for, you won’t need to iron those troublesome plaits, and the lining will keep you covered and in place.

Taking ‘Bout My Delegation Dress – If you love Joan from Mad Men’s style, this is the dress for you. With its bright color tone and black piping you will stand out in the crowd and your figure will be the envy of everyone. The capped sleeves are a cute little touch that makes this a great dress to wear to a wedding or to a nightclub.

Red, White and Cute Dress -This adorable little number would be the perfect 4th of July dress, but also a great number to wear to a family party or office gathering. It is cute, a bit on the short side, but if you pair it with tights or leggings you will be fine. The red belt around the waist can help show off an hourglass figure.

Speakeasy Chic Dress – If you are looking for a more 1920’s style this is the dress for you. This dress is a great choice if you are not so curvy and want to flatter your tall, slim figure. It hits close to the knees and when paired with a short sweater top can be worn anywhere. You can even throw a top on over it and wear it to a less formal event if you love the skirt like I do.

Refined and Dandy Dress – Sometimes it feels weird to write about the 1980s as vintage, but they are getting there, and this dress is a cute number that shows off the best of the 80s. With its chunky flower print and pleats you get the nice 80s touches, even if the shoulder pads and hip pleats are missing. Don’t worry, this is much more flattering.
