All the leading high street boutiques have now released their spring/summer 2012 lookbooks and we are excited to see how they have interpreted the catwalk trends and created their own unique fashions and looks. One of the most hotly anticipated being the new creations and evening dresses from Coast. When it comes to evening dresses, Coast really does know how to impress, so let’s take a look inside their spring/summer lookbook…

The overall ‘look’ at Coast this season is playful, feminine and colourful. A palette of nudes, pastel hues and more colourful shades of tropical blues, vibrant reds and eye-popping pinks make for an exciting and fresh aesthetic. In terms of styling, the designers have obviously been inspired by the glamour of the seventies with high-waisted pencil skirt and shirt combos and flowing maxi dresses. The flattering 50’s silhouette also plays big role in the SS12 Lookbook with an abundance of flattering A-line shift dresses. Here’s a closer look at a few of our favourite outfits…

The Tillia Dress is a graceful, floor-length strapless maxi dress in fuchsia. It has a ruched bodice that is nipped in at the waist with a long, flowing chiffon skirt with subtle pleat detail- a simply stunning style. The vibrant colour, loose material and feminine cut make this the perfect evening dress for summertime.

The sleek and seventies lipstick-red Evelina bow top, combined with the high waisted pink Gabby Skirt is formal but fun look; the clashing colours in this ensemble create an eye-catching sense of allure. The knee-length skirt contrasts perfectly with the playful and sassy side bow detail of the top.

The Thalia Dress is a vibrant and feminine flower print shift dress with a flattering belted waist. The high round neckline and above-the-knee length make this a young, fresh style. A chic look for spring, embrace the trend for floral blooms with this easy to wear and sophisticated design.

Yellow is going to be one of the key colours of summer 2012, as pointed out by Glamour Magazine here, and the Holly Dress from Coast (pictured) is an exquisite example of this trend for lemony tones. The banana yellow colour will set of even the slightest of tans and the folded detail at the bust adds interest and style. The tulip shaped skirt makes for a contemporary silhouette whilst the sweetheart neckline adds femininity and elegance to this bold piece.
