necklace (400x400)Spring is a little over a month away, so let’s cross our fingers that Old Man Winter gets the memo. Meanwhile, you need to start preparing your spring and summer wardrobes and accessories. Simple tops will take center stage as bulky sweaters and coats are put away until next year. Without all that layering, though, a simple top can seem…well…boring. Spruce things up with one of the bargain bib necklaces below.

Liz Claiborne Silver-Tone Aqua Bib Necklace

This necklace by Liz Claiborne is available through JC Penney for $21.60. The hardware has a silver tone, which nicely complements the bright and bold aqua stones in the necklace. This piece will pair well with the grays, blues and yellows for this spring. While it is large, it doesn’t look too bulky, as some bib necklaces tend to do.

Turquoise Bubble Bib Necklace

OnlyPearl sells this large turquoise bib necklace on Etsy. It’s a gorgeous turquoise color, and it’s a real bargain at only $7.90. However, the necklace is made in China and also ships from Beijing. Estimated shipping time is one or two weeks for the U.S., according to the seller, but from past experiences with other sellers in China, I’d estimate closer to a month. Many different colors and styles are available from the same seller.

Anna & Ava Dottie Bib Necklace

Get this Anna & Ava Dottie Bib Necklace from Dillards for only $25. It comes in mint and black and offers a more elegant style than some bib necklaces of the same size. It measures 18” in length, but comes with a 3” extender if you’d like it to hang a little lower. This necklace is perfect for special occasions when paired with a simple dress and minimal accessories.

Bib necklaces look great on anyone, as long as you wear them correctly. Keep the following pointers in mind when rocking this style:

  • Keep earrings, rings and bracelets small and simple.
  • Avoid tops or dresses with bold patterns. Bib necklaces are best worn with a single color of fabric.
  • Keep an eye on the neckline. Bib necklaces can sit entirely on the fabric or on bare skin with a deep neckline, but the look isn’t as polished when the bib portion sits on both skin and fabric.

A bib necklace works wonders on making an ordinary top look extraordinary. They also work well for framing your face and neck.
