The warmer weather that comes with spring and summer often gives us the opportunity to skip wearing jackets or outerwear. Unfortunately, there are times when we need to wear a jacket, including on chilly evenings or rainy afternoons. The good news is that there are lots of chic and light jacket styles to choose from. We’ve got a list of must have cover ups and tips on how you a make them yours.
1- Hooded Jackets
A cute hoodie is a sporty chic essential that looks great with jeans, dresses, tunic tops, and so much more. Look for cute styles in bright hues this season like red, purple, or pink. Bright hooded jackets add a hint of fun to any look, but be careful to pair them with either darker hues or more muted colors. If you live in hoodies, you may want to stock up on a few extra ones for summer time in classic colors like black or gray. You can try pairing your jackets with v-neck tees, khaki skirts, and leather skimmer shoes for a fresh look.
2- Denim Jackets
A classic blue jean jacket adds an air of cool to any look from edgy downtown fashionista to vintage boho. Try wearing denim jackets over your favorite floral print maxi dresses, solid print tank tops, trendy halter tops, and cool solid print rompers. When shopping for a new denim jacket, try to find a style that’s dark blue denim. The darker the blue, the better. Dark denim always looks more put together than a lighter shade. Try styling your jacket with a classic white button down blouse, black a-line skirt, and peep toe heels in dark blue.
3- Cropped Cardigan
Cardigans aren’t really considered jackets, but it’s still a cool item that you’ll likely wear all season long. Choose a cardigan in a classic hue like dusty rose or gray. Pair it over floral tops, lace-trimmed camisoles, denim rompers, or anything else that’s trendy and feminine. A cropped cardigan can be worn open for a stylish look or buttoned up for warmth. For a on trend look, try wearing a black cropped cardigan over a blue/white striped v-neck tee shirt and dark blue denim shorts. Add a pair metallic sandals for a little bit of flare.
