Every time you open your mouth, you’re letting the world know where you stand economically and socially. A recent study shows that good teeth will help you get a better job and move up the social ladder. Though it may be shallow, society and employers will judge you by your appearance, including your teeth, which need to be straight and white. Whiter teeth will make you look younger and healthier. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to make your teeth whiter.
If you want to get rid of those coffee and cigarette stains or the yellowing that comes with age and/or poor dental hygiene, you can visit your dentist and ask to have your teeth whitened, which restores the natural tooth color and bleached, which will make your teeth whiter than the natural tooth color. Expect to pay anywhere from $100-$500, depending upon where you live. Your dentist may also prescribe an at-home teeth-whitening system to supplement your office procedure.
If you’d like to save some money and do it yourself, you can invest in over-the-counter teeth-whitening products like Crest 3D White Whitestrips with Advanced Seal No Slip Technology available in drugstores for $45.49. And if you’re the DIY-type, you can even make your own whitening toothpaste once a week at home with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Add two teaspoons of baking soda and two teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide to a bowl and stir until the mixture forms a paste. You can even add a little bit of mint toothpaste to make the mixture taste better. Then, brush your teeth just like you normally would, but leave the mixture on your teeth for at least two minutes. Don’t swallow the paste! Then, rinse your mouth and brush your teeth again with regular toothpaste to get rid of the taste and the peroxide.
