dress (400x400)My homecoming dance is coming up in about a week or two, and I still have yet to find a dress.  Most stores are sold out at this point, my school always has their dance really late in the year, and I don’t really have the money to buy a dress anyway.  The dress I wore two years ago still fits and I love it, but I don’t want to wear the same dress again.  I found a cute and easy way to completely change your dress.

If an old dress of yours has a zipper going up the back here is an easy way to make a new dress out of it.  While the dress is on, zip it up to about a third or half way up your back.  Mark the height you like it at with a sharpie with a small dot on the zipper.  Now have your mom, a friend, or you if you can reach it, tuck the part that is not zipped together underneath so the back is open.  When you have them looking even and like the dress was designed like this safety pin them into place.  Now you can use double sided tape or hemming tape to keep the back of the dress like this without having to sew it or leave the safety pins in.  Viola! You have a brand new open backed dress.  Whether your dress has straps or not, tuck it in the same way, but if it is strapless use double sided tape if needed to keep the front up.

I think this article is great, but I do have one question. How will my dress stay up if I don’t zip it all of the way? Do you have any suggestions?
