There comes a time in every woman’s life when she’d like to look a bit younger. While clothes and hairstyles can help turn back the sands of time, a youthful-looking face is critical to achieving success. The first part of this series, Makeup Tips to Take 10 Years Off Your Face, describes how to use foundation and eye makeup to advantage and this article will describe how to use blush, bronzer and lipstick to make your face look more youthful and radiant.
More mature skin often looks dry and pale, so blush can come to your rescue in the quest to look younger by bringing a youthful glow to your cheeks. Creme blush is a wonderful choice for normal to dry skin and should be applied over your foundation so that it blends in more easily.
Gel blush, made from pigmented silicone particles, works well on normal to dry skin to create a translucent glow and should be applied with your fingers or a sponge to bare skin or over foundation. Liquid blush temporarily stains the skin but needs to be blended quickly after you apply it with your fingers or a sponge.
Dry powder blush works best on normal to oily skin and is applied with a soft blush brush. If you have dry skin, however, avoid powder blush because it won’t blend into your skin.
Bronzer will give your skin a youthful glow no matter what your skin type is. A matte finish powder bronzer works well on all but the driest of skin types and it’s easy to control and blend as you apply it with a brush. The key is to avoid using too much bronzer because the shimmer will draw attention to flaws in your skin’s texture.
Creme bronzers work well on normal to dry skin and you can wear without foundation because it blends into bare skin after you apply it with a sponge or your fingertips.
Gel bronzers work on normal to dry skin and provide a sheer wash that blends into the skin. The nice thing about gel bronzers is that in addition to your face, you can complete your look by applying a gel bronzer all over your body because it’s so sheer.
The key to using lipstick is to buy purchase a product that has a lot of moisture, which will help your lips stay supple-looking, full and young. Creme lipstick provides a full coverage of moist color without any shine.
Sheer lipstick provides see-through color that lasts longer than gloss, and because it’s sheer, you don’t need to be as precise as with other types of lipsticks.
Shimmer lipstick will give lips a healthy shine and make them appear fuller with an easy-to-wear, medium amount of coverage.
If you’re trying to make your lips look younger, whatever you do, be sure to avoid matte lipstick, frost finishes, and long-wearing lipstick, all of which will are drying and dehydrating.
