For the longest time, the fashion industry neglected the plus sized fashion market. Women size 12 and over were stuck wearing frumpy clothes or mumus. Fortunately, the times have changed as many specialty plus sized clothing stores opened up and started selling a wide variety of fashionable clothes and accessories. Walk into any mall, and you’ll probably find at least two fashion chains that cater to curvier ladies, and if you’re lucky, a department store with a well-stocked plus size department. If you want more choice, then surfing the Internet probably would be your best option, as you’ll access both chain shops and e-boutiques. Here are a few websites worth checking out.

Avenue
Trend conscience fashionistas will love Avenue! They sell sassy dresses, utilitarian khaki pants, skinny jeans, hot accessories, and more. Avenue also sells smart work apparel, intimates, and resort wear. You may have shopped the Avenue bricks-and-mortar shop in the past, but Avenue’s website sells plenty of web exclusives you won’t find anywhere else.

Fashion Bug

This shop (a division of Lane Bryant) sells trendy casual attire, swimwear, lingerie, shoes, accessories, and even evening attire. At Fashion Bug, you can shop for a variety of essential pieces including layering tanks and tees, smocked cardigans, two-fer style tops, classic coats, and more.  Fashion Bug is a good place to start shopping for a complete wardrobe for cheap.

Torrid
If classic isn’t really your style, rest assure that Torrid is the shop for fashionistas who lean toward edgier looks. Torrid sells band/pop culture tees, trendy rompers, strapless satin dresses, corset style tanks, and flirty blouses. You can shop from a variety of brands including Fergie, Betsey Johnson, Dickies, and Ed Hardy. Most of Torrid’s apparel and accessories appeal to the under-35 set, but their shoe and jewelry selections appeal to women of all ages.

Trendy plus size fashion was the best thing that ever came about. I don’t know why it was neglected for so long.
