Sleeveless at Work?

sleeveless (400x400)Plain tank tops and spaghetti strap camis may not be suitable for work: however, there are sleeveless tops that can be worn to the office that look both professional and stylish.  If you take pride in your shapely arms, why not show them off at work by wearing one of the following chic sleeveless tops?

Draped Delight

This sleeveless shell flatters all bust sizes with almost magical draping.  On small busted women the draping provides a bit of lift, and for large busted women, the draping minimizes in all the right places.  Since this style is so flattering, invest in several versions for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.

Solid color styles of this top look best.  To amp the chic quotient even more, choose one of today’s trendy hues. For instance, either tangerine or sea foam would look great when paired with a patterned A line skirt and ballet flats.

A Little Lace

Years ago, work place dress codes stressed the importance of not wearing anything with lace to the office; however, this rule has been relaxed.  Of course a lacy camisole that’s see through is still an obvious no-no!

Instead, opt for a flowing sleeveless blouse that’s been embellished with just a tiny bit of lace. Maurices’ printed chiffon button down blouse for only $29 is a great example.  It is both office worthy and stunning.

Pair this blouse with a solid color bottom and low heels for contemporary office style.

Pretty Pleats

Sleeveless tops with pleating along the neckline are also suitable for the office.  JC Penney features a bold black and white version that feels satiny and that pulls over the head easily.  With its fun detailing at both the neckline and the hem, it would look fantastic with plain colored black capris.  Add either yellow or bright fuscia flats for a pleasing pop of color.

Macy’s has its own easy care version of the pleated neck top.  As of the writing of this post, this Calvin Klein shell was available for only $19.99!  Made of a polyester and spandex blend, this dressy shell would last for several seasons and never lose its shape. Reserved Ruffles

While ruffles may call to mind a little girl’s party dress, they now have a  grown up use in the work world.  Sleeveless pullover shells that have been decorated with one or two ruffles add zest to an office wardrobe.

For example, imagine one vertical ruffle flowing down the front of a shell, acting almost like a long necklace.  Other shells feature one or two ruffles across the front only.  Again, with the ruffles being larger and few, they do not give off a “little girl” vibe.

Conclusion

This spring and summer, don’t be afraid to show off the hard work you’ve been doing at the gym.  Choose one of the sleeveless top styles described above, and you’ll look fit while still being professional.  (Remember to use plenty of lotion to revive winter weary skin before wearing these styles!)
