Snoods: So Good!

Fall looms on the horizon, and women’s accessories continue to heat up.  Plan now to purchase a few of the hottest accessory of the season – the snood.  This unique accessory is something like a scarf, but its also similar to a stole.  Basically, the garment fits over the head. Some versions fit snugly around the neck, while others need to be looped a few times before they fit as closely.  The snood’s unique design looks fashion-forward, while keeping out the wind at the same time.

Made from a variety of materials, from acrylic to polyester – even to mohair – the snood accents any outfit.  In fact, they come in so many fabrics, I am confident you’ll find one to match your personality.  A perfect example of one in a classic fabric is the Burberry Giant Check Cashmere Snood.  On sale now, this accessory can be worn with outerwear or simply with a solid color sweater.  Right now it’s a steal at Saks Fifth Avenue for approximately $130.00.

Another great thing about this fashion trend – snoods come in a variety of styles, ranging from formal to informal.  There are snoods featuring zippers, snoods that loop once vs. those that loop three times, and those that look more like dress collars from Shakespeare’s time.  The sheer number of styles, just like the variety of fabrics, helps any woman embrace this accessory trend.  I especially like Topshop’s Faux Fur Doughnut Snood.  Buy one in a vibrant shade, such as deep wine, to add a dash of excitement to a night on the town.

Snoods also work great as camouflage for older women.  If your neck has deep wrinkles, a snood can help hide them.  Turtlenecks and scarves are great at this as well, but snoods hide these age-related flaws in a less obvious way. Bonus – you look stylish, and no one will be the wiser!

A final benefit of a snood?  It is an easy accessory to wear, as it doesn’t have loose ends that end up getting in your way. Pop it over your head and go!  No need to fuss with tying it in a perfect knot.  And, unlike some scarves, the snood won’t end up stretching out to twice its original size.

As you can see, the snood may be THE accessory for fall 2012.  Because it comes in a variety of fabrics and styles, and because its so easy to wear, consider buying several to wear this fall and into winter. Snoods…they are so good!

Five Reasons to Buy a Snood

1.  The snood makes a fashion-forward statement.

2.  The snood is easy to wear, with no fussy tying of knots.

3.  The snood is trendy, while still being practical by keeping the cold winds at bay.

4.  The price is right; snoods are a fashion find all women can afford.

5.  Used as a type of camouflage, the snood works wonders to hide a neck that has become less than perfect.
