Pantone, “the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design 7colorindustries” has released its Fashion Color Report Spring 2009! Looking at the top ten colors I see some urban-like colors. While some of the colors have a hint of dullness to them, the colors are crossed by flashy colors–like that mustard yellow that you have seen around.

The top color for Spring 2009 is Fuchsia Red according to Pantone. Following the fuchsia comes salmon rose, which is a light pink that does seem to have a dullness to it. After the two shades of pink comes Palace Blue. Going with yet another “dullish’ retro color is lucite green–which reminds me of a dark sea-green. The mustard yellow that I mentioned above is also on the top of this palette of colors of the season. However, the color is formally known as “super lemon.”

An olive green color by the name of dark citron is the next top color of the season, and following it is lavender. I don’t think I’ve seen that many people wearing lavender, so this should be interesting to see this color roaming the streets. While the next color is labeled as Vibrant Green, I would not call this color vibrant green. It is yet another color that has a hint of dullness to it and a shady tint to it. Moving to even duller colors, slate gray is one of the top 10 colors of the season, and Rose Dust also was able to make its way to the top of this list.

These top ten colors seem to have more of a sophisticated look to them. While I would not pick them as the prettiest colors, I do believe that they look really nice as the colors of clothing. The colors are bright, but the vibrancy of the colors has been “tempered” and made more translucent and neutral. To see the colors, check out this site.
