Ah, shopping. If only we were paid to shop, then life would be somewhat better, but we settle for jobs that will allow us to shop. Here is a list of the top ten shopping destinations from 2009. Have you shopped here before?

1. New York City

One visit is not enough if you want go shopping in New York City. There are just too many shopping districts and neighborhoods in the city, and even outside, on the outer boroughs. But if you only have a few days, then let me suggest some not-to-be missed destinations. Drop by Lower Eastside for streetmarkets, Nolita for one-of-a-kind shops, Greenwich Village for specialty shops, Fifth Avenue and 57th St for designer brands. The list doesn’t end there. Paris is THE fashion capital of the world and with good reason. So, it comes as no surprise that Paris is in the list of top shopping destinations in the world. Be sure to drop by the flea markets for some bargain hunting. Visit Saint Ouen Flea Market as well as Porte de Vanves and Porte de Mantreuil. Drop by Fauborg Saint-Honore for some designer brands shopping and the Marais for eclectic fashion.

3. London, England
Shopping in London is an event and not just a destination. So many places to go to, let’s hope we won’t run out of time trying to get to them all. Be sure to drop by Charing Cross Road for a great selection of books. Visit Commercial Street and the famous Spitalfields Market and its vintage fashion and antiques. Oxford Street, London’s busiest street, is always a good place to go as they have almost every store imaginable here. Regent Street is also a haven of shoppers, home to Hamleys, which used to be the largest toy shop in the world.

No matter where you go in these cities, you’ll surely find what you’re looking for.
