Transitioning Your Winter Wardrobe To Spring

by Anna P. | January 11th, 2011 | Fashion, Women's Fashion

January means out with the old winter clothes and in with the fresh new spring lines.  Department stores and specialty clothing shops tempt us to spend our hard-earned cash with colorful new clothes and fun accessories. But once we step outside the store we realize that we’re not even halfway through the winter season yet. So what is a fashionista supposed to do? Keep shopping for a fun new clothes and mix them in with your winter essentials! Read on to find out how.

1- Choose Pieces You Can Layer

Spring is all about colorful tank tops and blouses–the kind of clothes that most of us don’t start wearing until the weather heats up. Why not wear them now by layering them underneath cardigans and button-down blouses? Add a pop of color by layering a pretty blue camisole underneath your favorite black cardigan.

2- Shop For Handbags And Accessories

Don’t shop for shoes yet, as you probably won’t be able to wear them for a few months anyway, and instead keep your focus on bright handbags or accessories. Brighten up your look with a brand new handbag or tote in an eye-catching color or print. The same goes for accessories: think scarves, wallets, cropped cardigans, jewelry, hair accessories, and  even umbrellas! Sometimes its the smallest thing that makes the biggest impact.

3- Try A New Trend

You’ll be ahead of the fashion curve if you don some of the hottest trends of S/S 2011 right now. A few notable trends include 70’s bohemian, edgy punk rocker, and preppy-influenced nautical pieces. As always, you want to wear one trend at a time. Try a navy striped tee shirt with your favorite pair of skinny jeans or maybe you could pair a light-weight motocross jacket over a casual winter dress.  Mix it up and you will be surprised what you find!
