On a recent trip to a home goods store, I stumbled upon a rack of women’s accessories. From headbands to earrings, they had a couple dozen cute selections. Bed pillow in hand, I rushed to the display to peruse the offerings. I liked what I saw, so I proceeded to purchase several accessories for my daughter’s to give as Christmas gifts. It was a pleasant surprise to find accessories in a unique location. Read on to learn about this store, as well as three other places one might not associate with women’s fashion finds.
Pier One Imports
I’ve always been a fan of Pier One Imports for funky home accessories. Shoppers have grown used to the international feel of the chain, as well as the reasonable prices. Last week I had a huge surprise when I found that Pier One now carries women’s fashion accessories, also with an international vibe. For instance, I purchased a faux leopard skin coin purse, and a jeweled head band. Another bonus? Both were on sale. In addition, there were chunky necklaces and statement earrings. I never thought that a home store would offer such cute finds, but I am glad I am now in the know.
Farmer’s markets have spread like wildfire across the United States. In my county in Wisconsin alone, three markets take place each weekend throughout the summer and into the fall. Not only can I purchase delicious baked goods, cheese, and vegetables, I’ve found awesome accessories. Like farmer’s, local craftspeople take advantage of these markets to display one-of-a-kind accessories for decent prices. On a recent trip, I found winter scarves and hats in solid colors and stripes. Also popular at my hometown market – mini-acorn earrings. Every reader may not like such homespun accessories, but for many, buying local – even accessories – can now be a way of life.
Another place many don’t think to shop for fashion accessories is a holiday craft show. A staple this time of year, these events have moved from the traditional dried floral arrangements and quilted blankets to include pottery, art work, and women’s accessories. Just like farmer’s markets, local people showcase their jewelry, scarves, and hair clips at these events. (The little diva in your life may also be happy to know that she can usually find fairy wands and tutus at these shows as well).
Home Improvement Stores
Finding the perfect fashion accessory may be as easy as buying trash bags. Why? Even large home improvement stores now offer jewelry. If you live in the Midwest, check out Menards online. You’ll find rings, necklaces, and earrings. I know my husband will be happy to know he can purchase solar salt, a shovel, and my Christmas present on the same shopping trip. (I haven’t decided yet if I’ll be happy if he does that).
Keep your eyes open for fashion accessories. You never know where the perfect scarf, belt, or necklace may present itself. Maybe even at the local farmer’s market or home store!
